
A delegation led by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Justice of Panama, Justice María Eugenia López Arias, is visiting the Dominican judiciary to learn about best practices in the implementation of technological tools and the transformation currently underway within this branch of government.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Panama, Justice María Eugenia López Arias, along with a delegation of judges and officials from that high court, on an official visit to their counterpart at the Dominican Supreme Court of Justice, Luis Henry Molina Peña, were briefed on the institutional outlook and the “Vision for Justice 20/24” Plan, which outlines the strategic priorities, Justice for Everyone, Timely Judicial Service y Efficiency and Integrity for a Trustworthy Justice System.
In addition, it went The Judiciary’s vision was presented “”Justice Today to Ensure People's Dignity", as well as the institution's progress. In this meeting, Judges from the Supreme Court of Justice, members of the Judicial Council, departmental coordinators, and appellate court judges also participated.
The Panamanian delegation is composed of, in addition to Judge María Eugenia López Arias, Judges Olmedo Arrocha Osorio, vice president of the Supreme Court of Justice of Panama and president of the First Civil Chamber of that high court, and María Cristina Chen Stanziola, of the Third Chamber for Administrative and Labor Disputes of the Supreme Court of Justice of Panama.
In addition, they are accompanied by members of the technical team from that country’s Supreme Court of Justice and an advisor from the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Office at the U.S. Embassy in Panama.
At the meeting with The president of the SCJ and the CPJ, Luis Henry Molina Peña, along with the presiding judges of the chambers and a female judge, Pilar Jiménez Ortiz, president of the First Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice and second alternate president, and Manuel Alexis Read Ortiz, president of the Third Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice.
The Panamanian delegation’s agenda includes a meeting with representatives of the General Technical Directorate, the General Directorate of Administration and Judicial Careers, and the National School of the Judiciary, in order to learn about the technological modernization plan being implemented by the Judiciary, as well as the competitive examinations for admission to the judicial career and the training programs for aspiring judges.
This visit is part of the Transparency Project related to the publication of rulings—generated using artificial intelligence—in cases of large-scale crime issued by the Supreme Court of Justice of Panama, an initiative sponsored by the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Office (INL) – U.S. Embassy.
