Sala Penal de la Suprema Corte de Justicia, favoreci\u00f3 un cambio de paradigma y un abordaje distinto a la represi\u00f3n para personas infractoras relacionadas con el uso problem\u00e1tico de las drogas, a fin de encontrar alternativas que les permitan reivindicarse en la sociedad y la familia.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>La jueza sostuvo que para el Poder Judicial constituye una gran responsabilidad tener un rol preponderante en la restauraci\u00f3n de estas personas y ser copart\u00edcipe de esa transformaci\u00f3n.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNuestra cultura de penalizaci\u00f3n ha sido un gran obst\u00e1culo para ese fin de reinserci\u00f3n y recuperaci\u00f3n de la persona que infringe la ley penal, pues se ha considerado la sanci\u00f3n privativa de libertad como la respuesta a la criminalidad\u201d, enfatiz\u00f3&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>La magistrada Vanessa Acosta hizo el se\u00f1alamiento durante su participaci\u00f3n en el taller \u201cSensibilizaci\u00f3n en g\u00e9nero, justicia penal y alternativas al encarcelamiento\u201d, celebrado por el programa G\u00e9nero en el Sistema de Justicia Penal, con el apoyo de la Organizaci\u00f3n de Estados Americanos a trav\u00e9s de la Comisi\u00f3n Interamericana para el Control del Abuso de Drogas y la Comisi\u00f3n Interamericana de Mujeres (OEA\/CICAD\/CIM) y Canad\u00e1. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Acosta subraya que, al dar prioridad a la privaci\u00f3n de libertad, se obvian cuestiones importantes como la salud mental y la participaci\u00f3n de la v\u00edctima en este proceso de recuperaci\u00f3n.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Insisti\u00f3 en que las personas privadas de libertad merecen tener la oportunidad de reinventarse y dar un salto cualitativo a su vida.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Apunt\u00f3 que existen alternativas al encarcelamiento por delitos de drogas que algunos pa\u00edses est\u00e1n implementando, con el objetivo de reducir las tasas de reincidencia, descomprimir los sistemas penitenciarios y ofrecer oportunidad de rehabilitaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s efectiva, tomando en cuenta al ser humano.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Expuso que implementar estas alternativas requiere un cambio significativo en la legislaci\u00f3n, una mejora en la colaboraci\u00f3n interinstitucional y un fuerte compromiso con los derechos humanos y la igualdad de g\u00e9nero.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEl objetivo siempre debe ser tratar la ra\u00edz del problema y proporcionar
